Frequently Asked Questions about the Dixwell Q House

What are the hours of operation?

The Q House will be open every day, Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 9 PM, excluding holidays. Weekends hours are to be announced.

Are the Q House facilities available to the community?

The rooms will be entirely available for community use for organized activities. There will be a reservation system and calendar where individuals and organizations can sign up to either host or attend activities at the Q House. In most cases individuals will not be allowed to hang out in the spaces without a reservation.

How can I reserve a room here at the Q House?

The facility isn't currently available for rentals. We are working to find a reservation system and cost scale that will best accommodate the community. Once it is confirmed, you will be able to reserve rooms through the Q House website.

Who are the partners?

The partners in the building are: the Stetson Public Library (the branch across the street will be now at the Q-House), the Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center, a community health center, the Dixwell/Newhallville Senior Center and LEAP, a youth program. The Q House also has other community partners that it works with to provide programs, services, and resources to the Q House community.

What is LEAP’s role at the Q House?

LEAP will have two roles at the Dixwell Community House. The first one will be to manage the building and maintain positive and organic relationships with the New Haven community. LEAP will also have a space at the Q House for free afterschool and summer programs for youth. The current afterschool program runs Monday to Thursday for youth ages 7-15.

You can read more about LEAP's role here.

How can I get involved with the Q House?
